STATISTICS

Islam is not only the world’s fastest growing religion today, but it is projected to be the largest one by 2075. There are currently 56 Islamic nations located primarily in North Africa, the Near East, and South Asia. Together they cover an area of 31.66 m km² with a population of about 1.89 bn. This corresponds to about 24.38% of the world’s population.

As Muslims we believe that sovereignty belongs to Allah and Allah alone; the Creator, Nourisher and Sustainer. We follow the way established by 124,000 of His prophets from Adam (AS) to Muhammad (PBUH) and the laws outlined in the scriptures in particular the final of them all- being The Holy Quran. No man-made organisation or nation supersedes this law and way of life; not the UN, US, NATO or any other entity.

Allah has never favoured a nation until they have valued and respected their own blood. The case of Dr Aafia Siddique and others alike are a test for our Ummah. There was a time when leaders like Al-Mu'tasim in the 9th Century would send an entire army for the dignity of a Muslim lady who was slapped by a roman soldier in the Byzantine lands. The current superpower US sent its entire fleet to release their hostage held by Somali pirates as depicted in Captain Philips. Moreover, Raymond Davis who murdered Pakistani citizens was sent back to US showing how much they value their people as compared to Muslims. Allah is Rabbul Alamin not Rabbul Muslimeen.

Masjid Al Aqsa is the third most Holy site in Islam. Since the inception of Israel in 1948, the Palestinians have faced tough persecution to forgo their homes and land. The significance of Palestine and Masjid Al Aqsa makes it an overwhelming issue for the Muslim world. With that said oppression anywhere is oppression everywhere, voice must be raised up equally for Kashmir, Burma, Yemen, Syria and Uyghurs.

Usury, riba or interest is a despised practice in Islam, which inevitably leads to unjust polarisation of wealth. In the Quran it is stated in Surah Al Baqarah that Allah and the Messenger have declared war against those who indulge in usury. Furthermore, it is mentioned that those who part take in usury will be raised insane on the Day of Judgement. In this day and age, usury is widespread thanks to our corrupt financial systems and flawed monetary system. In order to restore justice in this sector we must go back to the Dinar and Dirham monetary system.

Since the establishment of the petro-chemical industry by John D. Rockefeller with Standard Oil in 1870; the transportation and chemical sectors have seen a monopoly of a dozen corporations at most.  This has led to even further polarisation of wealth since 1973 with the advent of the petro-dollar deal orchestrated between Henry Kissinger on behalf US and the House of Saud. It is now imperative to move towards alternative economies such as bio-economy and renewable electric economy as a way of salvation for non-OPEC nations.

There is an overwhelming inferiority complex amongst the Muslims when it comes to contribution to science, technology and civilisation. This is a result of western historians jumping from Romans (5th century) to Renaissance (14th century) in the history books; as these were dark ages in Europe however golden ages for Chinese, Indian and Muslim civilisations. To restore balance and justice it is imperative that our youth know the truth about the contribution of their ancestors.

One of the greatest tragedies of the modern era is the African Continent; a land so rich but yet so poor. The dichotomy is staggering, with the wealthiest man in history originating from Africa. In terms of minerals and resources on the globe, Africa contains 88% Platinum and Rhodium, 50% Cobolt, 50% Diamonds, 46% Chromium, 42% Phosphorous, 40%, Gold, 40% Bromine, 35% Chromium and 27% Aluminium. Despite all the resources, the potential and rich history, Africa has the lowest GDP per capita with majority of the population malnourished and almost 80% of the population not having access to electricity. In 11 countries in Africa more than 90% of the people go without electricity. Such injustice and inequality would not be tolerated in any other continent so why Africa?

Blessed with so much, Arabia too is a tragedy. Despite having access to so many resources, the Arabs are still enslaved to western powers. With the amount of revenue generated solely from the oil and gas sector they could have elevated poverty and suffering from the globe, instead they have opted to race with each other for taller buildings as Prophesied by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Nevertheless, they are Muslims and the Prophet mentioned "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others."
